Jürgen Simpson

Jürgen Simpson is a composer, performer and educator, whose work spans multiple mediums and approaches. These include electroacoustic works, music for film, dance, sound installations and opera. Collaborators include composers Michael Nyman, Kevin Volans, Raymond Deane, Judith Ring, choreographers John Scott and Shobana Jeyasingh, poet/writers Sinead Morrissey, Simon Doyle and Clare McCumhail, performers Davey Spillane, Fergus Kelly and The Walls, and filmmakers Clare Langan, Tim Redfern and Andrew Legge. His second opera Thwaite (librettist Simon Doyle, director Dan Jemmet) received the 2003 Genesis Opera Projects top prize. He was the Irish featured composer at the 2006 Sligo New Music Festival and is postgraduate course director at the Centre for Computational Musicology and Computer Music at the University of Limerick.
